la_cápsula was initiated by Adriana Domínguez and Elena Rosauro in June 2017. For one and a half years it was a pop - up project which collaborated with different art spaces in Zürich, until it opened its first exhibition room in December 2018, located at Stauffacherstrasse, in front of Bäckeranlage. In July 2021, la_cápsula moved to its current address: Anwandstrasse 9, 8004 Zürich.
Adriana Domínguez (Founder and Curator)
Adriana is an Art Historian and Independent Curator from Mexico, currently living and working in Zurich. She graduated in Art History from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and did an MAS in Curating at ZHdK (Zürich). She worked as Assistant Curator for Museo Tamayo in Mexico City until she moved to Switzerland in 2013. Adriana specialises in Latin American art and her curatorial strategy mixes theory, critical thinking and humour to address current social, political and environmental issues through art exhibitions. In 2017 she co-founded the independent art space la_cápsula, which focuses on presenting Latin-American emergent art and creating links to the local art scene of Switzerland. Besides being the curator of la_cápsula, Adriana works for a private collection in Zurich.
Géraldine Boog Juárez (Curatorial Assistant)
As a dual citizen, Géraldine is interested in the transcultural dialogue between Latin America and Europe. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History with a minor in Law from the University of Zurich. She worked in a law firm for two years and has assisted in some curatorial projects. Currently she is working at Galerie Peter Kilchmann and doing her Master's degree in Art History with a focus on contemporary art at the University of Zurich.
Melisa Núñez (Graphic Design and Social Media)
With more than 7 years of experience in the art world, Melisa has worked in different galleries in London, Zug and Zurich and is currently the gallery manager at Grieder Contemporary. Melisa has a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, a MA in Marketing & Communication from I|Art (Art and Culture Business School) in Madrid and an Art and Business Semester Program from the Sotheby`s Institute of Art in London.
Elena Rosauro (Founder and Co-curator from 2017 - 2021)
Elena is coordinator of the Lateinamerika-Zentrum Zürich of the University of Zurich and associate postdoctoral researcher within the SNF-project “Contested Amnesia and Dissonant Narratives. Post-conflict Literature, Art and Archives”, directed by Prof. Dr. Liliana Gómez-Popescu. She graduated in Art History from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and did an MA in Latin American Studies, with a focus on Cultural Studies, at the same university. Her PhD thesis “Historia y violencia en el Sur americano. Prácticas artísticas, 1992-2012” has been published as a book by CENDEAC (Murcia, 2017).
